Am I eligible for Bursary Maintenance?
Bursary Maintenance funding, or simply Bursary, is available to students on a full-time Further Education (FE – SCQF Level 1-6) course. There are different types of bursaries depending on your circumstances.
You can find more about it on the Bursary page of our website, or in the Guide to Student Funding (2024-25 guide coming soon).
How much will I get for Bursary Maintenance?
The type of bursary you can apply for depends on your circumstances. It may be assessed against your income, and either your parent(s)’ or partner’s income. You can find more information in the Guide to Student Funding (2024-25 guide coming soon). If you’re still unsure, feel free to contact Student Funding.
Can I get Bursary Maintenance while I have an open claim for benefits?
Depending on your circumstances, you may not be able to claim benefits while studying. We recommend contacting the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to let them know you’ll be in full-time education. They’ll be able to advise you.
If you’ll be claiming Universal Credits while studying, you may be eligible to receive the Universal Credits Top-Up Bursary on top of your benefits. You can find more information about being a student on Universal Credit in our Guide (2024-25 guide coming soon).
